“Take a deep breath”, is a standard phrase heard in every general physical examination. Many people find that hard to do. The treatment of respiratory and pulmonary disorders in our hospital includes three key points:
- Preventive health checks
- Diagnostics of non-specific discomforts
- Treatment and follow-up care for apparent respiratory and pulmonary diseases
1. Are you at risk of developing pulmonary disorders?
Disorders of the respiratory system (bronchiae) and the lungs are the result of hereditary and environmental factors, which are further influenced by lifestyle. A tendency towards bronchitis or other genetic predispositions, like cystic fibrosis, can be inherited over generations. In-depth preventive health checks and your personal health history, as well as the history of your family, combined with clinical examinations will allow us to assess your personal risk profile for respiratory and pulmonary diseases. Preventive health checks can then be scheduled in accordance with your risk profile. A therapeutic intervention plan can be created for you and possibly your family as well. Preventative measures for your daily environment and lifestyle will be discussed. This will avoid any unnecessary measures which might unreasonably infringe upon your daily life.
2. You suffer from unexplained aches and pains?
A persistent cough, chest pains during physical exertion, whistling, rattling, excessive secretions, phlegm, and effort dyspnoea may all point towards an existing respiratory or pulmonary problem. Frequent infections may also be caused by an insufficient function of the mucous membrane. We have the means to carry out irritability tests of the lungs to recognise oversensitivity of the bronchiae. Using all the resources of MEOCLINIC, other diagnostic processes, including X-rays or CT scans, may help find the cause of your problem in vague cases. Specifically our tests for lung function and bronchial hyperresponsiveness tests or allergies will aid significantly in finding the correct diagnosis.
3. In case of a previously diagnosed respiratory or pulmonary disorder …
… we would be very happy to welcome you in our long-term care programme. Chronic respiratory and pulmonary diseases, like asthma or COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) will require long-term care. That means you will receive targeted drug therapy as part of preventive measures or the treatments of an acute problems, depending on your medical history. Long-term treatment will require proper information regarding the prevention of damaging factors, a healthy lifestyle, the right choice of medication, independent therapy adjustments and intervention in case of severe complaints. furthermore, we will periodically retest your lung function. We will give you all the time you need to ask questions. It is of great importance to us that you understand every detail of your diagnosis and therapy as this is the foundation of a trustful cooperation between doctor and patient.
